Peoria- Mark A. Buettner, age 49, of Peoria, passed away at 8:50 AM on Monday, November 20, 2023 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home with his wife by his side.
Born August 13, 1974 in Peoria, a son to James and Karen (Elger) Buettner. He was raised and educated in Peoria, and continued his education receiving his Doctorate of Chiropractic Medicine then his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. On April 4, 2005 he married Pamela Thompson in Chicago and together they raised their family in Peoria. Mark was an active mountain biker who loved fitness and exercising. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree, Metamora Council, St. Mark's Men's Club, St. Sharbel Watch Program and various other ministries. Mark will be remembered as a devout Catholic and a man of deep faith. He enjoyed time with his friends, but most importantly cherished his family. Mark was a loving husband, father, son and brother who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife Pamela of Peoria; five children: Katherine, Matthew, Lucy, Gianna and Luke; his parents James and Karen Buettner of Peoria; two brothers: Chris (Brandi) Buettner of Bloomington and Father Matthew Buettner of Charlotte, N.C.; and one sister Elizabeth (Tim) Dahl of Madison, Wisc.
Mark was preceded in death by one daughter Elizabeth.
Visitation will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 3:00 PM until time of vigil service at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philomena Catholic Church on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Father Matthew Buettner, Msgr. Brian Brownsey and Father David Richardson will officiate, and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Services will be live streamed and available to view by logging onto https://www.youtube.com/@stphilomenapeoria/streams.
Preferred memorials in Mark's memory may be made to the Women's Care Center.
Friends and family are encouraged to log onto www.wrightandsalmon.com to sign the online guestbook, submit photos and share Mark's memorial page via social media.
