MARK A. BURDORF, 71, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025 at his home in Cherokee, Iowa.

A come and go Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to them for a future project in Mark's honor.

Mark was born on December 23, 1953 to Raymond and Jennie (Paucanus) Burdorf in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended Joy Elementary School and East Jr. and Sr. High in Sioux City. After high school, he went on to work at various jobs in the Sioux land area. He managed the 75 Drive Inn, Orpheum Theater and the Plaza Theater for 20 years. He worked at the Boy's and Girl's Home for three years before going to work for the State of Iowa at CCUSO in Cherokee, Iowa. He retired in 2020.

He was united in marriage on April 5, 2014 to Marie Miller.

He was a member of the Cherokee County Pork Producers for the last 14 years.

Mark enjoyed going to auctions, watching his great grandkids play sports, was a talented woodworker and painter. He liked spending time in the garden and collecting guns. He was known for his honesty, dedication and hard work.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, and aunt Mary Paucanus.

Mark will be greatly missed by his wife, Marie of Cherokee, Iowa; their children Cody (Hope) Howell and their children Parker and Grady, Casey Howell and special friend Tasha and their children Nicklaus, Madison, and Grayson; granddaughter Jenni (Cory) Wetrosky and their children Tyler, Hayli, Ryann, and Kinze; brothers Randy (Christy) Badtram and their children Ella and Brody, Steve (Jodi) McQueen and their children Adam and Mary; also many other friends who Mark considered family.
