Marlan Jay VanWyk, 66, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Sanborn, Iowa, to Arwin and Glenda (Uittenbogaard) VanWyk, Marlan grew up with a love for the outdoors and a deep appreciation for family and friends. He attended Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he made his home for over 40 years.

On February 12, 1977 he married the love of his life, Tava VanWyk, and together they built a wonderful life. Their days were filled with laughter, adventures, and an unwavering devotion to their children and grandchildren.

A talented craftsman and business owner, Marlan took pride in his work and was known for his skill, integrity, and creativity. Outside of work, he found joy in fishing, camping, motorcycle riding, NASCAR, rock and roll music, good food, and the company of friends and family. His huge heart, humor, and strength left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Marlan is survived by his wife, Tava VanWyk; daughter Kristina Radke (son in law Eric); son Nathan (daughter in law Tiffanie) VanWyk; and his beloved grandchildren, Jadah Radke, Micah Radke, Raven Radke, Gabby VanWyk, and Londyn VanWyk; father, Arwin VanWyk; and sisters, Kimberly Swier and Tammy Swier. He was preceded in death by his mother, Glenda VanWyk, and his brother, Fredrick VanWyk.

Marlan was deeply loved by his extended family and countless friends. His legacy will live on in the laughter shared, the lessons taught, and the love he gave so freely.

A celebration of Marlan's life will be held at Discovery Christian Church COS CityHub
