Evelyn J. Van Wyk entered into Eternal Life on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Pine Haven Christian Home. She was 101 years old.
Evelyn was born November 8, 1923 in the town of Lima, daughter of Garret and Henrietta (Prange) Hoitink. She attended Banner School and went on to work at Musebeck Shoe Factory and J.C. Penney.
On March 1, 1950 she was united in marriage with William P VanWyk. He preceded her in death in 1990.
A long-time member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, Evelyn was involved with women’s bible study, taught Sunday School, belonged to the quilter’s group and served funeral lunches. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, flower gardening, raising vegetables and collecting blue delft. Her annual vacation to St. Germain was something she always looked forward to.
Evelyn is survived by her children Carol (Ken) Nysse and Rich (Ann) Van Wyk; grandchildren Kimberly Schachel, Zachary (Erin) Van Wyk, Michael Van Wyk and Angela (fiancé Brian Croce) Van Wyk; great-grandchildren Bella and Laszlo; sister Neva Walvort; sisters-in-law Joan Hoitink and Shirley Hoitink; brother-in-law John Van Wyk; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her parents-in-law Peter and Elizabeth Van Wyk; brother Garret and John Hoitink; sisters LaVerne (Willard) Veldman and an infant sister; brothers-in-law Walton Walvort, Adrian (Marion) Van Wyk, Andrew (Catherine) Van Wyk, Kunert Van Wyk; sisters-in-law Minnie (Melvin) Veldman, Peternella (Donald) Huibregtse, Claudia (Russel) Bresser and LaVonne Van Wyk.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 14, 2025 at First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls with Pastor Brad Veenendaal officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 10:00AM-12:00 noon. She will be laid to rest at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery beside William.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in her name to First Reformed Church.
