Mark A. Byerly, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025. Born on September 1, 1944, he was the son of the late Robert A. Byerly and Helen R. (Bailey) Byerly.

Mark was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet L. Young, and his brother, Kenneth B. Byerly. He is survived by his brother, Timothy F. Byerly and wife Shirley of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.

A lifelong learner and nature enthusiast, Mark earned his bachelor's degree in biology and spent many summers sharing his love of the outdoors as a nature leader and camp counselor. He inspired campers with his quiet passion for the natural world and his gift for making science feel alive.

Mark was a member of the Church of the Brethren, and most recently attended Unity Church. He found joy in quiet reflection, meaningful conversation, and the pages of a good book. He was raised in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania and lived in New Orleans and Kansas before settling in Indiana where he worked in maintenance for Meijer.

In keeping with his gentle spirit, Mark will be laid to rest privately at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Palmer Funeral Home – River Park is assisting the family with arrangements.
