Mark Callaghan Jr.

Mark was born in Suffern, New York on September 17th, 1984 to Mark Callaghan Sr. and Victoria Callaghan, née Tietjen.
He was a 2002 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury Senior High School and attended Rockland Community College. Mark was a member of Mount Carmel Bible Church, where he was baptized, worshipped, and volunteered in service to God and the Carmel community.
Mark is survived by his parents of Milford, PA, and his sisters, Michaela Caruso, née Callaghan, of Highland Mills, NY, and Kathleen Callaghan of Milford, PA, his grandmother Mary M. Tietjen, of Chester, NY, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a loving uncle to Alaina and Miles Caruso. Mark was predeceased by his grandfathers, William Tietjen and John V. Callaghan Sr., his grandmother, Margaret S. Callaghan, and his beloved cousin, Elizabeth York. Mark was also loved by many friends and acquaintances in and around his home in Carmel.
To know Mark was to know his sweet, kind, and gentle soul. He faced several health challenges over the years, but never stopped striving for a full life, finding fellowship and grace in his family, church, and community. He loved art, music, skateboarding, and the outdoors. He also had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious smile. Mark had an enormous heart filled with love and empathy.
A special Memorial Service for his friends and the staff of Search for Change and Brewster Clinic will be held at Mount Carmel Bible Church, 76 Gleneida Ave, Carmel, NY, on April 18th, starting at 12:00 PM, followed by a luncheon from 1-4 PM at Simpson Hall.
Additionally, it is expected that a private service will be held for his immediate family at a later date to be determined in May.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Search for Change (searchforchange.org), an organization that made a huge positive impact in Mark's life and so many others.
A private cremation has already occurred.
