Mark S. Case, 62, of Hope, passed from this life as the result of accident in Hope at 3:54 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2023.
Mr. Case was born October 6, 1960, in Hayward, California, the son of David F. and Jean Butler Case. They moved back to Columbus in 1968.
He met his wife Brooke Finke through her brother Bryan at the Bartholomew County 4-H fair in the cattle barn in 1982. They married June 30, 1984.
Mark had several jobs he loved over the years including, Indiana State Department of Transportation, Shelby Bottle Gas, Elsbury's Greenhouse, Bartholomew County Animal Control Director and was owner of 4 Paws Palace.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, a 24 year member of the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair Board where he loved his vendors and his fellow Fair Board members.
He enjoyed playing church league softball and spent 33 years playing with his Boyer team. The softball tradition has continued in the Case family with Shelby, Tanner and Rebekah.
He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them and enjoyed mowing, camping with friends, his dog Rip and good music.
More than anything he lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brooke; daughter, Shelby Case of Columbus; son, Tanner (Rebekah) Case of Hope; grandchildren, Savannah Jean, Briar Kenneth and another soon to arrive that he was so excited to meet; brothers, Matt (Melanie) Case and Doug (Cris) Case both of Columbus; father-in-law, Dick Finke of Hope; sister-in-law, Kelly (Roger) Thayer of Hope; brother-in-law, Craig (Carrie) Finke of Nashville, IN; and so many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Jackie Finke and brother-in-law, Bryan Finke.
The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Cordrey officiating.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to time of service at the church.
Following the service cremation will take place and his cremated remains will be laid to rest in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Columbarium.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church General Fund or Bartholomew County 4-H Fair Board Inc.

coming from Africa , mark regarded me as a true brother, friend, we used to laugh and joke alot. he had always taken good care of me. He was by far the best American I had ever met. kind, good hearted and giving. May his soul rest in peace in heaven.

One of the nicest and fun fair board members our family has had the privilege to have know. Always a gentleman and a fair person. . Family was a priority. We were blessed to have known him and work with him. Will be greatly missed but left a wonderful legacy. Roger and janice jessop Burton and families, Brent, Bradd, Ben, and Bryce and their families Know their is laughter in heaven!

Mark and his family would come to Idaho every summer when we were kids and we would always have a great time. He was a Fantastic person and will be missed. So sorry for your loss.

The man, the myth, the legend! The mold was broken after the good Lord made Mark. He cared and loved more than most and made a substantial difference in this world. I am proud to call him my cousin and friend. Go fly amongst the stars and rest in peace! We will all miss your smile and sense of humor so much. A great man, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend to so many. Our hearts are heavy! You will be truly missed and never forgotten!
