On the evening of Thursday, June 27, 2024 Mark S. Caudill passed away peacefully surrounded by his close family at Providence Hospital in Novi. Mark was born June 7, 1971 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Mark was a loving father and husband to his three kids and his wife. Family was the most important part of Mark's life. He was happiest when he was hanging out with friends and family on the patio at home, manning the grill. Mark was exceptionally proud of his kids, who have all grown into incredible adults. When asked if they turned out the way he thought they would he said "even better than he ever thought they could."
Mark always lived his best life, was always true to himself, and never worried about what people thought of him, a trait he tried to instill in everyone he met. He was a die-hard Michigan Wolverines fan, especially football. He was so thrilled to get to see them win the National Championship this past January. Even though he bled blue, he managed to wear a green polo to the Michigan State University graduations of his daughter and oldest son, something he was grateful to avoid when his youngest son graduated from Northwestern Tech. He was also a huge Red Wings fan. One of the first memories Mark and Shelbi shared was watching the Red Wings win the Stanley Cup in 2008.
For his 50th birthday, Mark decided to get back into golf and his family treated him with a new set of clubs. He tried to get in at least 18 holes with his wife or son every weekend the weather would cooperate. He was always quick to remind us to keep our heads down and watch the ball. Aside from golfing together as much as possible, Mark supported all of Shelbi's crazy hobbies, from Star Wars costuming and dungeons and dragons, to going to Ren Fest and Disney World.
For the last 20 years, Mark worked in the landscaping industry, doing any and all tasks that needed to get done. He was well loved by both his clients and his crew members, many of whom saw him as mentor and friend.
Mark is survived by his wife and best friend of 16 years Shelbi (Allen) Caudill, his daughter Hailey Caudill, his sons Joshua Caudill and Zachary Caudill, his sister Penny (Caudill) Brant, his brother-in-law John Brant, his nieces Cassandra (Reinsmith) Chapman and Ashlyn Brant, his nephew by marriage, Richard Chapman, his great nephews Damien Watanabe, Braiden Chapman, and Jaxen Chapman, and his father Larry Caudill. Mark was preceded in death by his mother Margaret (Gladys) Deaton.
We are having a Celebration of Mark's Life Saturday, July 6 at Multi Lakes Conservation Association from Noon - 4pm. Please dress casual and rep your Michigan gear if you have it.
