Mark Steven Causey, age 61, of Baxley, Ga, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, following a short illness. He was born on October 8, 1962, in Baxley, Ga to the late James Chappel and JoAnn Causey.

 

He was a 1980 graduate of Appling County High School and went on to graduate from South Georgia State College with an A.S. in Agriculture in 1984. He then obtained a B.S. in Weed Sciences from the University of Georgia in 1988. After graduating from UGA, Mark took his first job at the University of Delaware Extension Program. He moved back to Baxley after getting married and started a job working for the State of Georgia as an Ag Inspector. During his career, he also taught Agriculture at Wheeler County Correctional Facility and served as Landscape Manager at the Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, Ga. He then obtained his CDL’s and drove a milk tanker truck for Williams Dairy until medical conditions forced him into an early retirement in 2005. He spent the last 19 years doing the hobbies he loved, including collecting guns, farming, and going on day excursions with his sons. He loved his wife, children, and his pride and joy, his grandson Easton. He wore his title of “Grandpa” proudly.

 

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deborah Karl Causey of Baxley, Ga; four children, Trevor Causey, Connor Causey, Erika Causey, and Karlee Spivey (Drew); a grandson, Easton Spivey; three brothers, Craig Causey (Karen), Al Causey (Liz), and Brad Causey (Mary). Several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins also survive.

 

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. from St. Rosa of Lima Catholic Church with Father Rafael Estrada officiating and a eulogy given by Karlee Spivey,

 

Interment will follow in Miles Chapel Church Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Nobles Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M. 

 

Active Pallbearers are Drew Spivey, Colin Causey, Devin Causey, Jeff Herrington, and Justin Kimmons.
