Mark Allen Cutro

Mark (Skip} Allen Cutro of Georgetown, Texas was graciously called home by his Heavenly Father at the age of 75, after a long and very courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on August 21, 1948 in Melrose Park, Illinois to Angelo Pasquale Cutro and Helen Marie Kramer.
Mark grew up in Oak Park, Illinois and attended Oak Park River Forest High School. He went on to Southern Illinois University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in radio and television in 1972. He later decided to change career paths and attended the University of Iowa, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in May of 1981. This became his lifelong career.
Beyond his professional accomplishments Mark had many interests. He had a passion for researching multiple topics. His love of music was evident as he played the saxophone in a band and "tinkered" around on his flute and drum set. His family will always fondly remember his tapping on countertops to a beat, with or without music. He loved to write and actually worked on writing a book in his earlier years. Mark loved sports and remained an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Blackhawks despite having made Texas his home in 1980. His artistic talent was evident in the beautiful landscapes he created for his family.
He met his best friend Gayle in 1969 and they married on September 1, 1973 in Houston, Texas. They had two sons, Brandon and Adam.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents Angelo Cutro and Helen Kramer.
Mark is survived by his wife Gayle, of 50 years; his 2 sons Brandon and Adam and daughter-in-law Erin. Fondly known as "Papa" by his two granddaughters Elizabeth and Abby and grandson Tuck. They will always remember his love of laughter and his "joking around." He is also survived by his sister Laura Osborne of Downers Grove, Illinois; brothers Brent Cutro of Downers Grove, Illinois and Christopher Cutro of Lakemoor, Illinois. He is also survived by numerous brother and sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Mark will be greatly missed by his loved ones and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Do not mourn his death, but celebrate his life and honor his memory by embracing love, laughter, and the joy of discovery.
A special thank you to each and every person at Three Oaks Hospice of Austin, Texas that we encountered. Their loving care of Mark in the last months of his life are so deeply appreciated.
A private family celebration of Mark's life will be held at a later date.
