Mark Kenton Dunstan I, 64, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at his home in Eldon after an 8 and a half month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, with his wife, children and granddaughter close by just as he wanted.
He was born April 26, 1958 to Kenneth W. Dunstan & Janet (Bouma) Dunstan. He was a 1976 graduate of Eldon High School and went on to earn a degree from SMS in Springfield, MO where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Industrial Management.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, Mark Dunstan II.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Tracy, daughter Wendi (Noah) Moeller of South Dakota, youngest son Mark "MK" Dunstan III and granddaughter Mabel Lynn Moeller who he called Nugget, step mother Patty Dunstan of Excelsior Springs, MO, sisters, Cindy (Fletcher) Lamkin and Holly Riehn both of Jefferson City, MO, along with seven nieces & nephews.
Mark was known for his love of cars and was always super proud of his 1966 Chevelle SS, "The Ghost" and many other vehicles he owned or dreamed up like "Moby" his limo with a 302 under the hood and a 454 in the back seat! He had a knack for doing things his way.
Marks other passion was firearms. He was the owner and operator of Action Arms in Eldon which he opened in January 2000. He was a substitute teacher for the Eldon School District from 2000 until his retirement in 2020. "Mr. D" really enjoyed watching all of the students he had grow up and do well for themselves.
Keeping true to form of doing things his way, Mark did not want a funeral or any service. He asked that his friends and family gather for a party, when its warmer, to enjoy some food, choice beverages, tell stories and just enjoy time with each other because you never know how much you have left. We will get the word out when the date is set.
In lieu of flowers as an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to his son, MK's College Fund at P.O. Box 5 Eldon, MO 65026.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO.
