Mark J. Dwight, 67, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Byron Health Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born February 17, 1958, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late William N. and E. Marie (Burd) Dwight.

Mark graduated from Lakeland High School with the Class of 1976 and spent most of his life living between Allen and Whitley Counties. After high school, he completed his electrical apprenticeship, but his true calling came when he became a diesel mechanic for Serv-All in Fort Wayne. He was known for his mechanical talent and his gift for repairing just about anything that came his way.

Mark's hobbies reflected his creativity and curiosity. He was an avid model train enthusiast and a proud member of the Garrett Model Railroad Club. He also enjoyed flying model airplanes as a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). Train rides were especially meaningful to him, and one of the highlights of his life came just days before his passing, when he was able to take his "last train ride" aboard the 765 Nickel Plate in Fort Wayne. The joy and smile on his face that day will forever be cherished by his family, who are deeply grateful to his caregivers, Jeff and Ana Ruiz Bacon, for making that special moment possible.

Mark is survived by his children, Susie (Christian) Campbell of LaGrange, Indiana; Alexandra (Joseph) Spicer of Fort Wayne; Magina (Brock) Snyder of Fort Wayne; Justin (Ashley) Dwight of Fort Wayne; and Steven Dwight of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Payton Gose, Laney Wilson, Addie Dwight, Savana Braden, and Ethen Braden; his sister, Marita (Todd) Dwight-Smith; and niece, Karsten Smith, all of Wolcottville, Indiana.

Private family services will be held, and Mark will be laid to rest beside his parents at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, Indiana.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jeff and Ana Ruiz Bacon for their devoted caregiving and to the entire staff at Byron Health Center for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to Mark throughout his journey.

In honor of Mark's memory, memorial contributions may be made to Byron Health Center, 1661 Beacon St., Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
