Mark Fish Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by F. S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home on Sep. 9, 2024.
Mark R. Fish, 72, of Rowley, MA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon A. (Watts) Fish, and their children, Alycia, Evan, and Justin. He was a proud grandfather to Easton and Tucker. Mark is also survived by his siblings: John Jr. and his wife Linda, Thomas and his wife Holly, Anthony and his wife Christine, Daniel and his wife Vicki, Janet and her husband Mehr, and Rebecca and her husband Richard. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mark was born on July 13, 1952, son of the late John Hopkins Fish and Marie Antoinette (Begin) Fish.
A graduate of Newburyport High School, Mark was passionate about sports and served as captain of his high school football and baseball teams. He was an avid runner, cyclist, hiker, mountain climber, and camper. As a young man, Mark embarked on an adventurous bicycle trip from Rowley to Florida, Texas, Mexico, California, and back home. He also joined a team of family and friends in climbing the Cordillera Huayhuash in the Andes of Peru, reaching nearly 17,000 feet above sea level.
Mark worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 44 years. Known for his kindness, Mark often went above and beyond as a mailman, helping people on his route with various tasks. He became a "go-to guy" in the community, always ready to lend a hand. After retirement, he enjoyed driving the school bus in town for another 7 years.
Mark coached Rowley youth sports teams and played for and coached the Rowley Rams Baseball team for many years. He was a member of the Rowley Recreation Committee, managing the town's playing fields. Mark was also an active member of the Newburyport Assembly of God Church, serving as a Trustee, Deacon, and Royal Ranger Commander for the church's youth groups.
Mark loved spending time in his yard and garden, and he was the ever-willing target of water balloon fights that he organized for the young ones in his family. He cherished hiking in local areas with his wife, grandsons, and his beloved dogs, Bailey and Zoey. Mark will be remembered for his leadership, toughness, compassion, and as a devoted family man.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., at F. S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley. Funeral Service will be on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Newburyport Assembly of God Church, 13 Hale Street, Newburyport. Interment will be in Rowley Burial Ground.
