Mark Eugene Hackman was born March 10, 1957, to George and Mary Ann (Sabelka) Hackman. He grew up at St. Lucas, Iowa, with his three sisters, Michele, Wendy, and Lori. He graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1975, and Area 1 (NICC) in 1977.

Mark married the love of his life, Bonnie Herold, on May 24, 1986. They had two beautiful children, Stephanie and John.

Mark spent the majority of his working career at Leon's Auto Services and later enjoyed his leisure years at Carquest Auto Parts, where he quickly found a fondness for his parts route with his trusty car, "Miss Kimble" (and doggie biscuits in his pockets for the pet companions he met along the stops.)

He was religious, not only to his Sunday attendance at St. Ben's Church, but to Wednesday Porch Nights and Thursday lunch with the guys.

While Mark spent many of his nonworking hours heavy into the projects in his garage, he also spent a great deal of time planning the next car shows, cruises, and swap meets. He enjoyed going for spontaneous Sunday drives, trips to Pork's Hilltop (now known as Pike's Den), kayaking, camping, and pontooning, always with wife, Bonnie, by his side. They shared an inseparable bond, worthy of every vow they took in marriage-an example their children (and others) looked up to.

Mark was a friend of many. He made friends in all of his hobbies and anywhere and everywhere he went. He was a creative innovator and natural born thinker, the "go to" guy for wisdom in cars and making things run. He was known for his fun and witty personality; he was a true kid at heart. This came in handy when it was time to have squirt gun fights with the grandkids on the sandbars of the Mississippi or push a pedal car hot rod down the sidewalks of home.

Mark is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bonnie; daughter, Stephanie (Mason) Martin of Decorah, IA, and son, John (Katie) Hackman of Waukon, IA; seven grandchildren, Noah, Brady, Jace, and Kyler Hackman, Branson, Jack, and Krew Martin; mother, Mary Ann Hackman; mother-in-law, Connie Herold; sisters, Michele (Vern) Hoppes, Wendy (Paul) Andera, Lori (David) Galligan; brother-in-law, Dennis (Kay) Herold; sister-in-law, Wendy (Daryl) Roney, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, George Hackman; father-in-law, Floyd Herold; and brother-in-law, Gary Herold.
