Mark Hamblin

Mark Ben Hamblin was called home surrounded by his loving family on May 16, 2024. He was born on September 4, 1951 in Kanab Utah to Christina Chatterley and Ben Broadbent Hamblin. Mark was the middle child of five siblings. He graduated from Kanab High School in 1969.
At a dance at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, with the glowworms underneath the starry sky and the Crypt Kickers sweet rock accompaniment in the background, he had true loves first kiss. On September 12, 1969 he married his eternal sweetheart Corinne Judd later solemnized in the St. George temple. 54 years later and 19 children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with many life experiences, joys, pains, happiness, trials, and triumphs his family is impacting lives far beyond the dance hall of the North Rim. All because two people fell in love.
Living on the family ranch at House Rock Valley he learned to cowboy, rodeo, break horses, farrier, and guide dudes (tourists) at VT park near the East Rim of the Grand Canyon. Mark could ride any horse, anywhere at anytime. His horse riding skills were on full display as the native american warrior princess in the motion picture Mackenna's Gold filmed in Kanab. He had bowed legs, was never without a cowboy hat, a neck scarf, a tooled leather belt, pearl snapped cowboy shirt, wrangler jeans, a knife in his pocket, or a revolver in his homemade holster at his side. He was born in cowboy boots, lived in cowboy boots, and died in cowboy boots. He was a bonafide lifelong cowboy.
Mark had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned several businesses from CTR trucking, to autoparts to small engines and restaurants. He worked as a roughneck, a hoistman, toplander, and miner at the uranium mines on the Arizona Strip. Returning to his true passion, driving 18 wheelers.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. He loved to serve others whether they were family or not. His service knew no boundaries and had no limits – even many times to his own detriment. Mark had the talent of not judging others. He accepted others for who they were, what they were no matter where they were from, and had unconditional love and respect for others.
Mark is survived by his wife, Corinne, his three sons Travis (Amanda), Ryan (Heather div.), Aaron (Jill), and ten (10) grandchildren (Jerika [Jamin] Hansen, Haylee, Sydney, Paige, Daemon, Parker, Regan, Gavin, Carson, Tysen), and three great grandchildren (Ben, Dean, Kaiya). He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe, and many other family members.
Mark will be loved and missed until we see him at the next rodeo.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Kanab Utah Stake Center (20 West Center Street, Kanab Utah) at 9:45am with the service beginning at 11am. Interment will follow the service at the Kanab City Cemetery.
