I worked with Dr Heerema at Sacred Heart Hospital. Professional and dedicated he was compassionate and committed to his patients.
For example, I witnessed him bend down to help a patient with her slippers before walking her in the hall to determine her ability to safely discharge home. Another time he brought his own sneakers from home to give to a patient.
Dr Heerema was quiet and modest about these kind acts. He cared deeply about patients. I admired and enjoyed working with him and missed him when he retired. I´ve thought about him often. I´m glad he´s at peace and wish his family the same.

A very kind man. My Grandmother was a patient of his. He agreed to see ME one Christmas vacation because I was visiting my grandparents and it was the mid 90s, before urgent care. I had a horrid ear infection. He prescribed the antibiotics...and never billed for the visit. We never forgot it. It´s virtually unheard of in today´s culture. A wonderful man. Prayers for his wife, family, and friends.

Mark and I were best friends in Middle School in Tallahassee, Florida. He was a wonderful friend and it was always a joy to be with him when we were young. Fare the well my friend. George
