I will never forget Dr. Holmberg's famous "Colgate" smile, with eyebrows raised above the dark framed horn rimmed glasses as he'd play a 6 chord (ala Terry Jones of Monty Python) in my 1979 Music Theory class at KU. I owe it to him for teaching me his famous adage, "There's no such word as 'can't'. " Any time I hear my wife say "I can't", I remind her of that, (I often need to remind myself as well!) What a re"Mark"able man and life! Able to turn an often (too regimented) and mundane subject into something fun was truly a gift, one of a multitude that this man had. Julie, you had a very rare bird indeed! The Lord truly blessed you and your family. - from a former student.

It was a blessing to get to know Mark, although I hadn't seen him for several years. Julie and the kids are a testament to the kind and loving man he was. They all are the best --we need more of them in this world.
