Mark D. Hublar

Mark D. Hublar, 63, of Floyd County, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.

Born on November 4, 1962, to the late Calvin Hublar Sr. and Carol King Hublar, Mark grew up with a passion for creativity and a heart for others. He was known throughout the community as a man of immense generosity-the kind of person who would truly give someone the shirt off his back if they were in need.

A Life of Music and Craft Mark was a gifted musician and an incredible bass player. He spent years performing with various bands, most notably as a member of "Gypsy." His music took him everywhere, from local stages in Lanesville to the river islands, and he took great pride in competing in the Louisville "Battle of the Bands."

When he wasn't holding a bass guitar, he likely had a hammer in his hand. An exceptional carpenter, Mark possessed the rare ability to build nearly anything out of wood, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship.

Fans, Family, and "Dog" A devoted sports fan, Mark bled cream and crimson. He was a passionate supporter of Indiana University basketball and football, rarely seen without his IU colors. He also shared a unique bond with his beloved cat, whom he humorously named "Dog."

He is survived by his fiancé, Julie Martin; his daughters, Brittany and Shyanne Hublar; and his brother, Calvin Hublar Jr. He also leaves behind his step-son, Branden Martin (Shawna), and many nieces and nephews who will miss his spirit and talent.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 3-5:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
