Mark King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Traub Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. - Central Square on Jan. 19, 2026.
Mark E. King passed away December 5th, 2025 due to a short but hard fought battle with Stage 4 lung cancer. He was surrounded with family by his side. Mark was born December 15th, 1964 to Howard J. King Jr. and Nancy M. King. He grew up in N. Syracuse where he graduated North Syracuse High School. He married Melinda (Darrow) King and moved to Hastings. Mark was a very hard worker, and opened his business Furniture King with his wife which they operated from their home for over 30 years. Mark lived everyday to the fullest, when he wasn't working he enjoyed being outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, NHRA races, mowing his lawn, grilling, tending to his vegetable garden and canning. He loved to cook more than enough and everyone was always welcome! He loved his family and pets Maxx (Momo) and Stella above all else and was also a proud, funny, kind, caring, and compassionate man. He was loved by anyone who knew or had just met him. He will be missed greatly by everyone!

Mark was predeceased by his mother Nancy M. King in 2013.

He is survived by his father Howard J. King Jr.; his wife of 34 years Melinda S. King; his children Kristie King, Jessica King, Zachary King, and Ashley King; 3 grandchildren Reese King, Jameson McCallops, and Roman King; siblings Howard (Dianna) King III, Jeffrey (Julie) King, and Kellie (Thomas) Barker; and many nieces and nephews.

Mark, instead of services, has requested a Celebration of Life to be at a later date.
