Mark Stephen Lanctot

BARKHAMSTED –
Mark Stephen Lanctot, 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle. He was the loving husband of Ellen Farmer Lanctot for 43 wonderful years. Born October 16, 1954 in Detroit, MI; the son of the late Robert and Shirley (Roberts) Lanctot.
Mark graduated from Tennessee Tech University. He worked as an Engineer for 30 + years at Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. He enjoyed coaching for the Town of Barkhamsted basketball, soccer and baseball for many years as well as serving on the Board of Education for Northwestern Regional #7.
His great passion was restoring classic cars, most recently, a 1974 Land Rover Series III. He also loved hiking especially in Peoples Forest with his dog and going on family walks. He was an avid golfer, reader and a civil war and WW II buff, even touring Gettysburg and other battlefields with his children.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his cherished children, Daniel Lanctot of New Hartford, Brian Lanctot of New Hartford and Emma Lanctot and companion Clayton Collins of Oregon; siblings, Michele Schultz of New Hampshire, Suzanne Williams of Florida and Roger Lanctot and wife Regina of Virginia; and many close nieces and nephews. He also leaves his beloved dog, Skye.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 2 – 4 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at The Royal Coachman Tavern at the Old Riverton Inn from 2 – 4 PM. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
