Mark Anthony Lieneke

Mark Anthony Lieneke, age 63, of Chamois, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his home, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Mark was born in Jefferson City, on July 19, 1961, to the late Marvin and Marie (Deeken) Lieneke. His mother survives in Westphalia. On November 14, 2012, he married Robin Wirz in Rolla. Robin survives at their residence.

Mark was a 1979 graduate of Osage County R-1 in Chamois and a 1981 graduate of Linn Technical College with an associate’s degree in Machine Tool technology.

Mark was a lifelong farmer and also worked off the farm for 27 years in machining and fabrication with 17 years in supervision and management. In 2009, he opened his own shop, Lieneke Machine and Fabrication, LLC, and ran it until 2023, when his illness started. Mark was a skilled Tool and Diemaker and was known as a supervisor that was fair to his employees. He worked 2nd and 3rd shifts for nearly 20 years.

Mark liked to learn and make improvements. He would research how to operate and repair everything associated with the farm. He was a very talented man who could figure out how to fix or “alternatively engineer” just about anything. He enjoyed spending time with Robin and the trips they took. Mark was a humble man, who truly had no idea want an amazing and inspirational person he was.

Mark served over the years on many boards and councils such as the State Tech Advisory Board for Precision Machining, Osage County Extension Council, Osage County Soil and Water Board, Chamois Fire Department Board, St. John’s UCC Council, Secretary for the A1 Levee Board, multi-year Chair of the Osage County Republican Central Committee and was a long-term member of the Chamois Lion’s Club. In 2016, Mark and Robin were the Osage County State Fair Farm family. Mark also did his civic duty by finding and reporting the murder weapon used in the Gerloff double homicide, hidden in the creek next to his farm.

In addition to his mother, and wife of 12 years, Mark is survived by two stepsons, Michael Massey and Benjamin Massey both of Rolla; two grandchildren. Cali Conley and Erik Massey both of Rolla; two sisters, Marilyn (Chris) Keilholz of Linn and Marsha (Dale) Gloe of Hermann; mothers-in-law, Sharon (Jim) Rhoads of Inverness, Florida, and Barbara Wirz of Puxico; brother-in-law, Dr. Richard L. Wirz, Jr. of Lake Wappapello; along with several nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to his father, Mark was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Lieneke, brother, Marty Lieneke and his father-in-law, Richard L. Wirz, Sr.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Chamois with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jason Hilkebaumer officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in St. John’s UCC Cemetery outside of Chamois. His final resting place has a view of 2 of his farms, one with his shop and grain bins and the other was the farm he grew up on. Mark is the fifth generation of Lieneke to be interned in the Chamois Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. John’s UCC cemetery, St. John’s UCC Church in Chamois, the Osage County Missouri Republican Central Committee or MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
