Vivian A. Vahrenberg, age 97, of Jefferson City, formerly of Chamois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Summit Villa in Holts Summit.
Vivian was born on March 11, 1928, in Chamois, a daughter to the late John and Malinda (Witthaus) Curtie.
She graduated from Chamois High School.
On May 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Emil L. Vahrenberg in St. Louis. Emil preceded her in death on March 7, 2019.
Vivian was employed at Langenberg Hat Factory in Chamois.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Chamois, the Osage County Historical Society, and was a former member of the Chamois Lions Club.
Vivian enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and flower gardening. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time and making memories with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Denise (Dennis) Kuebler of Jefferson City; son-in-law, Gary Reynolds of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Dawn (Jim) Vaughn, Melody(Dwayne) Croy, Dustin (Amy) Kuebler, and Cory (Misti) Reynolds; nine great grandchildren, Danielle, Emma and Samuel Vaughn, Brett and Kacie Kuebler, Hailey and Evan Croy, and Alyssa and Gage Reynolds; along with nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband of sixty-nine years, Vivian was preceded in death by two infant children, Steven and Sharon Vahrenberg; a daughter, Paulette Reynolds; three sisters, LaVerne (Walter) Benson, Elaine (Lester) Trachsel, and Patsy (Owen) Lunsford.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Chamois with Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Jason Abbott officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Chamois.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ or Hospice Compassus.
