Mark Charles McAttee Sr., 60, of Hanover, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at his home. Mark was born on May 25, 1964 in South Bend, IN to James Harold McAttee and Janet Johnson McAttee. He married Kimberly Carol Farris on February 7, 1997.
Mark's early life in Indiana was marked by a spirited dedication to both academics and athletics. He graduated from Brothern Christian High School in Osceola, where he first demonstrated his leadership qualities and team spirit. Continuing his educational journey, Mark attended Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama, where he combined his love for sports and his commitment to faith by playing on the college basketball team. His time on the court was not just about the game; it was about building lasting friendships and learning valuable life lessons.
Throughout his life, Mark's love for sports was unwavering. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and the Chicago Cubs, following their triumphs and trials with undying loyalty.
Mark also found solace and pleasure in the simple things in life. Gardening and working in his yard were activities that brought him immense satisfaction. He had a green thumb and took great pride in nurturing his plants and flowers, creating a haven of tranquility and beauty around his home. Mark's connection to nature was a testament to his appreciation for life's wonders and his ability to find happiness in everyday moments.
One of Mark's most endearing qualities was his love for his cats. His favorite, Joey, was more than just a pet; he was a companion and a source of unconditional love. Mark's care and affection for his feline friends exemplified his kind-heartedness and his capacity for deep, genuine relationships.
Mark's journey through life was a testament to his character: a man of integrity, warmth, and generosity. He lived with a sense of purpose and a desire to bring happiness to those around him. His legacy is one of kindness, enthusiasm, and an unrelenting zest for life.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m.
