Mark McIlwain, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, in Kyle, Texas, surrounded by his family. Born on October 8, 1961, in Houston, Texas, Mark's zest for life and unwavering spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Mark spent his early years in the city of Bryan, Texas, where he developed a strong foundation that would carry him throughout his life. He graduated from Bryan High School in 1980, leaving a legacy of friendship and achievement. His passion for learning took him to Stephen F. Austin University, where he broadened his horizons and prepared for a fulfilling career.

Professionally, Mark was dedicated to the craft of Commercial and Residential Landscape Management. His work not only beautified the community but also provided a serene oasis for many to enjoy. Mark's commitment to his profession was paralleled by his involvement in various associations, where he generously shared his expertise and fostered lasting relationships.

Mark was a sports enthusiast with a particular devotion to Clemson Tiger Football. His love for the game was infectious, and he cherished the moments spent cheering on his favorite team. Yet, his greatest joy was found in the simple pleasures of life, like spending time with his sons and grandsons, who were the pride and joy of his existence.

He is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Lisa Dever, who was his partner in both love and life's adventures. Mark was a guiding force for his sons, Wesley McIlwain and his wife, Mariana, and Austin McIlwain and his wife, Anna. His stepsons, Brandon Palmer and his wife, Shawna, and Brent Palmer and his wife, Jennifer, will remember him for his unwavering support and kindness. Mark's legacy will live on through his grandsons, Ethan, Zach, A.J., Charlie, and Joe, who will miss their grandfather's thoughtful presence.

Mark was the cherished son of June McIlwain, who instilled in him the values of kindness and courage. His sister, Sandra Paret and her best friend, Mary Bunn, including nephews Carter Paret and his wife, Sarah, and Taylor Paret and his partner, Annie McIntyre, will fondly remember their times together. Mark's family and friends, will forever treasure the memories of their deep and enduring friendship.

Preceded in death by his father, Earl LaNeil McIlwain, Mark is remembered as a man who faced life's challenges with courage and a smile. He was a beacon of light in the lives of those around him, and his thoughtfulness and kindness will be profoundly missed.

Mark's life was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and perseverance. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by the many lives he touched. As we bid farewell to Mark McIlwain, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and the courage to face each day with an open heart.
