Mr. Bobby Jack McIlwain

Funeral services for Mr. Jack McIlwain, 88, of Carthage, Texas will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2025 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at hawthorns.
Mr. Bobby Jack McIlwain was born September 27, 1936 in Clayton, Texas. He passed this life April 2, 2025 peacefully at his Carthage home. Jack was the younger of two children born to the marriage of Lila Mae Jones and Weaver George McIlwain. He was raised and schooled in Carthage graduating from the Carthage High School with the Bulldog class of 1956. Jack served his country through the U.S. Navy. He married his love Phyllis Sharon Davis November 5, 1958 and together they celebrated 64 years of marriage and two sons before she preceded him in death in 2023. Mr. McIlwain worked for the Highway Department, retiring after 32 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Jack loved fishing in his retirement years and was an expert at cross-stitch. He is also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Flora Mae Drewery and a son Keith McIlwain.
Mr. McIlwain is survived by his devoted son, David McIlwain and wife Carol Kay of Carthage; daughter-in-law, Jeanie McIlwain of Carthage; grandchildren, Joel McIlwain and wife Tiffany of Carthage, Jade Al' Shebli and husband Mark of Famerville, Corey McIlwain of Longview, Rachel Laney and husband Brian of Carthage, Brandi Bjorgaard and husband Andrew of Long Branch; great grandchildren, Ky, Braxton, Peyton, Jaeger, Jay, Zaiden, Tennessee Marie, Sarah Faith, Gabriella, Aidan, Bailey Rae, Brooklyn, Brayden and Brody; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Joel McIlwain, Mark Al' Shebli, Jody Bourliea, Willie Miller, Josh Blissett, Judd Jones; honorary pallbearers are, Brian Laney, Cory McIlwain and his great grandchildren.
