Mark H. Merkey

 

            Mark H. Merkey, 89, of Manheim, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Samuel and Susan Bruckhart Merkey. He was the loving husband of the late Jane E. Hoffer Merkey who passed away in 2018. Mark owned and operated his farm in Rapho Township and was an auctioneer for many years. He attended Mt. Hope United Christian Church, Manheim and God’s Missionary Church, Lebanon. Mark enjoyed attending sales, auctions and he had a stand at the Green Dragon Market, Ephrata for over forty-five years working up until September 29th of this year.

 

            Surviving are two sons; Ray husband of Angie Merkey, Harold husband of Wendy Merkey both of Manheim, a daughter, Donna Marie wife of John Shenberger of Lititz, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dalton Merkey, two brothers, Samuel and David Merkey, and two sisters, Ruth Witmer and Mary Gruber.

 

            Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mark’s Celebration of Life Service at Mt Hope United Christian Church, 206 Cider Press Road, Manheim on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM. Private interment in Mastersonville Cemetery, Manheim. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Mark’s memory to Mt. Hope United Christian Church, 470 Meadow Lane, Lebanon, PA 17042 for Lorie Lease, Missionary to Sioux Indians in South Dakota.
