Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home & Crematory Services, Pittsfield on Dec. 10, 2025.
BURNHAM-Mark Benjamin Mosher drew his final breath on a sunny Thursday morning in December having fought the good fight against the cancer that ravaged his earthly body for the final three years of his time with us on this Earth. Like all struggles in his life, he fought with undaunted courage, fortitude and a subtle dignity that would have eluded weaker men. He was a champion his whole life and was no less so as he strode into that dark Valley of Death in a truly graceful manner, to which we should all aspire.
Mark was born on November 1, 1965, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in
Pittsfield, Maine, as the third of five children to his loving parents, David A. Mosher and Marion C. Mosher. He attended Pittsfield schools showing early promise in this small town's classrooms, playing fields and competitive courts. He was a gifted student and athlete with a gentle, but assertive countenance that inspired his class and team mates to perform at their highest levels of achievement through his personal example.
Mark was a natural at literally everything he endeavored as a National Honor Society student at Maine Central Institute, while leading as captain in every sport he played as the starting quarterback of his football teams, point guard on the basketball courts and he could tear the cover off a baseball as a switch hitter on the baseball diamonds from little league through high school. This record of competitive success would follow him throughout his life and in particular as a nationally renowned AKC Retriever Field Trial trainer and handler.
Mark was ultimately a Burnham boy that grew up exploring, trapping, hunting and fishing in the woods, fields and waters of his beloved State of Maine. He was the living legacy of generations of Moshers to do so and followed his father's example as a much sought after Master Maine Hunting and Fishing Guide, and Tidewater Captain.
Above all, Mark will be most remembered for his faithful countenance, easy smile and his steadfast love for family with his central preoccupation set squarely on his two children, Briannah Gomes and Ben Mosher, of whom he was tremendously proud. His three granddaughters: Quinn, Mia and Layna were the sparkle of his eye, as were his many nieces, nephews, and godchildren of the extended, multigenerational Mosher Family. He is survived by his aforementioned parents and his four siblings: Mary Beth Trafton, Jack Mosher, Kenny Mosher and Sara Walsh. Mark is also survived by his first wife of twenty years and high school sweetheart Rochelle Mosher and his second wife of five years Trish Mosher.
The Mosher Family will host a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue,
Pittsfield, Maine, with a reception to follow from 3-5 p.m. at the Broken Putter Grill Room, 378 Hartland Avenue,
Pittsfield, Maine.
