I first met Mark at Bank of America when he transitioned to Cards supporting DOD. He was a kind, gentle soul who cared deeply about others and their success. I even briefly reported to Mark. While at Bank of America I met Rosy, she was pregnant with Emily, both were great people to know, and Rosy is one of the best cooks. Mark eventually transitioned to Citi. His time at Citi he made friends easily, always with a smile and you just knew he cared about his job and others. Mark always pitched in for events, on the grill for our yearly cookout. I remember his excitement when UVA won the basketball tournament. His smile, laughter, kindness, and deeply caring will be missed. This was more than a shock to all of us and can't believe he is no longer with us. My prayers go out to the family to remain strong; his memory will live on and not be forgotten.

Mark was one the best managers ever and a kind person! He was always willing to help and believed in work/balance. Sending my prayers of comfort and love to Rosy and family.

Mark lived with Dave Galway in the room next to my mine in our First Year Dorm hallway [Page First Left] at the University of Virginia in the Fall of 1985. Mark and I became great friends and stayed very close all these years because he was the best friend anyone could ever have. Mark had a kind and caring heart. A lot of the other guys we lived with that first year of college also stayed close with Mark since we bonded so closely playing sports, socializing and just hanging out and having a good laugh about all sorts of things. Mark and I went to many UVA football games for at least the last 10 to 15 years and always ended our weekends at UVA by going to the Lawn and throwing a football or frisbee around before heading home. Mark loved Blues music and could play the "air guitar" like no one else could. Mark was a great husband to his wonderful wife Rosy and the best dad anyone could be to his son Jack and his daughter Emily. I will miss Mark every day for the rest of my life. I am blessed to have had him as my friend. I know everyone of his friends from UVA felt the same way. My deepest sympathy goes out to Mark's mom, Dawn Shields, brothers, Matt and Jason, his wife, Rosy, and his children, Jack and Emily.

I remember meeting Mark and Rosy years ago (pre-kids) at a Bank of America training. They were the cutest. Over the years I enjoyed working with both of them and getting updates on the kids and the occasionally good natured ribbing about Virginia tech. He was such a proud Hoo. An exceptional leader that led with grace and kindness ... you don't see much of that in our industry. His passing is a loss for so many and gone way too soon from this earth. My deepest condolences to Rosy and their children and all who loved him.

All the time. Mark's laugh was infectious and never heard a cross word from him. Anytime I was around Mark I felt better. It was just that way.

First met Mark, to my memory, on the Lynnhaven Baseball League baseball team. He was the second baseman on the Orioles with me. I feel like the first time I ever saw Mark was at a Kingston/Kingsgrant Elementary School sports meet that we had in those days as a tiny kid who did like 30 pullups. Since I could only manage 1/2 a pullup I'd admired this feat. I also remember watching him on the Kingsgrant Vikings playing tackle football, this small dude recklessly hitting much larger players with positive results.
