Mark Smoczynski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Symonds-Madison Funeral Home from Mar. 17 to Mar. 18, 2022.
Mark Richard Smoczynski, age 55, of Elgin, IL, passed away on March 3, 2022. He was born January 20, 1967 in Chicago, IL to his loving parents, Richard and Carol (née Liljegren) Smoczynski.

Mark attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Elgin, Streamwood High School, and Southern Illinois University where he studied aviation. After college, he became a pilot and flight instructor.

Mark was skilled in carpentry and was a jack of all trades. He was the first person called when something needed to get done.

Mark enjoyed bicycling and playing golf with his friends. When he was younger, he was a BMX racer, and as he got older, he still enjoyed riding, especially with his boys.

Mark was loving and kind, and was extremely proud of his two sons. If he loved you, you knew it, because he was not afraid to tell you! To Mark, life was not about being rich, being perfect. It was about being real, humble, kind, and loving.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Carol A. Smoczynski; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his sons, Cole and Clay Smoczynski; father, Richard F. Smoczynski; girlfriend, Hadas Zermicheal; sisters, Linda (Tom) Comerci and Jennifer (Greg) Johnson; aunts and uncles, Ed (Judy) Liljegren, Putt (Louise) Smoczynski, Maureen Sala, and Marilyn Keare; nieces, Samantha, Mary, Madeline, and Abby; goddaughters, Erin, Mary, Abby, and Evelyn; and many loving cousins.

Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to his sons, Cole and Clay Smoczynski, c/o Jennifer Johnson, 912 Mockingbird Drive, Antioch, IL 60002.

Final arrangements entrusted to Symonds-Madison Funeral Home. For more information, call 847-741-1128 or visit www.symondsmadison.com.
