Mark Stanley
Thursday, July 10, 1941 – Tuesday, December 16, 2025
Mark Stanley, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and friend, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. Born on July 10, 1941, in
Cedar Grove, Georgia, Mark's life was a testament to his love for his family, his work, and the great outdoors.
Mark's journey began in the small town of Cedar Grove, where he grew up surrounded by the beauty of nature that he so adored throughout his life. He attended schools in Laurens and Wheeler counties, with many lifelong friends. Mark's training by his father and father-in-law, laid the foundation for his future success as the owner and operator of Stanley Motor Company. His business, which specialized in automotive sales and alternator, generator and starter repair, was more than a career; it was a passion that allowed him to connect with his community and serve them with integrity and dedication.
Family was the cornerstone of Mark's life. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Zell Faircloth Stanley of McRae, and a loving father to his daughters, Suzanne Conley (Rex) and Diana Smith (Danny), both of McRae. Mark's joy was multiplied as he became a grandfather to Alex Conley (Marlene) of Hazlehurst, Caroline Greene (Anthony) of Rochelle, and Holly Williams (Daniel) of Milan. The arrival of his great-grandchildren, Fletcher, Colt, and Brooks, brought him immense happiness and pride. Mark was also survived by his sister-in-law, Virgie Mae Stanley of Chauncey, and his canine companions, Pretty Boy and Millie, who were constant sources of comfort and joy.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Gladys White Stanley, his brothers, Clyde (Peewee) Stanley and Horace (H.M.) Stanley, his sister, Jean Stanley Bailey, and his beloved in-laws, T.L. and Maggie Sue Faircloth. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his family, including several nieces and nephews who looked up to him as a role model and mentor.
An avid outdoorsman, Mark found solace and excitement in hunting deer and turkey and fishing on his family land in Cedar Grove. He often remarked that Cedar Grove was "the best place this side of Heaven," a sentiment that reflected his deep connection to the land and his appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. His love for the outdoors was matched by his commitment to his faith as a member of McRae Methodist Church, where he was baptized later in life.
Mark Stanley's legacy is one of love, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. As we remember Mark, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, just as the land he cherished will continue to flourish and remind us of his enduring presence. Mark's memory will be forever etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at McRae Methodist Church on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. David Blalock officiating. Interment will be private at Oak Grove Cemetery in McRae. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M.
