Mark Alan Ugan, 61, of Avon, formerly of Bay Village, passed away peacefully after several months of illness at Ames Hospice House.
Born July 17, 1964, in Lakewood, Mark was the beloved son of the late Elsie (nee Vacca) and John Ugan of Bay Village.
Mark is survived by his sister, Lynda Chrystal (nee Ugan) of North Olmsted; his brother, John Ugan Jr. of Bay Village; his devoted partner and best friend, Jeannie Kaiser of Avon; and his brother-in-law, Mark Simko of North Ridgeville.
He was an Uncle to Sheri Herchler nee Horwedel (Greg) of Vermilion, Bryan Horwedel (Tic Syvilayrack) of Avon, Chrysta Horwedel (Justin Souter) of Bay Village, Lauren Crowley nee Ugan (David) of Wadsworth, and Megan Simko (Krystina) of Berea, and a great-uncle to eight. He is also remembered with gratitude and affection by his dear friends, neighbors, and caretakers, Gail and David Copeland of Avon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carole Simko of North Ridgeville, and his sister-in law, Donna (nee Gagliardi) of Bay Village.
From an early age, Mark had an inquisitive mind and a natural talent for understanding how things worked. He was known to take things apart just to see what made them tick, sometimes even successfully putting them back together. His love of working with his hands and tools grew into a lifelong passion for cars, leading to a career as a skilled and respected auto mechanic. Mark's health ultimately prevented him from maintaining the career he loved.
He had a natural talent for cooking, effortlessly transforming a few simple ingredients into a true culinary feast. He found great joy in sharing his creations with others, and through his food he brought warmth, comfort, and happiness to many.
Mark found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time outdoors boating, gardening, and relaxing by his pool. Above all, he cherished his dogs. A proud "Doggie Daddy" to Inga, Greta, and many others over the years, Mark's dogs were his children and constant companions, bringing him comfort and happiness. His love and compassion for them were boundless.
Mark was known to have a playful spirit which he expressed freely around friend and family. He was a loyal friend to many, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh.
Though illness weakened his body, his mind and spirit remained strong and full of love and gratitude. Mark's strength, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to his memorial fund to assist with his final expenses. https://www.tmcfunding.com/funds/mark-ugan-cemetery-expenses/15528/
