Mark Vicker

Mark Vicker, 64, of Creston, passed away at his home peacefully Sunday, December 28, 2025, in Creston. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Family requests casual wear for the service. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Services will be livestreamed at a link under his obituary. Open visitation with family receiving friends will be 2-3 p.m., prior to services at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Mark was born on June 7, 1961 to Nancy (Young) Vicker and Robert L. Vicker. Mark was the youngest of four siblings. Mark grew up in Creston and lived in Creston his entire life. When Mark was young he had a touch of the ornery side, but he also loved to learn and achieve goals. Mark attended Creston High School and graduated in 1978.
Mark was able to do so many things in his life. He could fix anything, build anything. His most proud work would have been his beautiful home he created for us to share. There really wasn't anything Mark couldn't do. Mark also had a love for his cars beginning at the age of 16. It was a Pontiac GTO. He made that car beautiful. The next project was a '73 LeMans. Our son was able to take it to prom. At the young age of 18 Mark started at Fansteel Wellman Dynamics. He started in coremaking/molding and worked his way up to an engineer. Mark put in 26 years at Wellman's and always gave it his all. Unfortunately, Mark developed health issues at the young age of 39. One year later, he was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the Mayo Clinic. At the age of 44, Mark had to resign from Wellman's due to his health issues.
Mark met and fell in love in the summer of '77 with his wife, Angie. Mark, being 16 years old, and Angie, being 14 years old. At total, they were together for 48 years and married for 42 years. In 1991, Mark and Angie were blessed to have a son, Nathan Allen. He was the light of their lives.
At the age of 63, Mark was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. He fought so hard and courageously for a year and a half.
Mark is survived by his wife, Angie; his son, Nathan (Faith) Vicker; grandsons, Isaiah and Bennett; and a step-grandchild, Isaiah Fedricks; brother, Randy (Anne) Vicker; sister, Pamela Van Fosson; brother-in-law, Randall (Sandy) Brownrigg; sisters-in-law, Gloria Wright, Linda Bailey, Sandee Brownrigg and Marry Vicker; several nieces and nephews; goddaughters, Jessica, McKenzie and Paige; along with numerous other family members and friends.
Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy J. Fry; step-father, Kenneth Fry; father, Robert L. Vicker; brother, Jim Vicker; sister-in-law, Sharon Freihage; brothers-in-law, Gail Freihage, Jo Wright, Gary Brownrigg and Don Van Fosson.
