Mark Eugene Webb December 16, 1958 - December 24, 2025 Mark E. Webb, 67, of
Ludington, MI died December 24, 2025. Mark was born December 16, 1958 in
Terre Haute, IN to Ernest and Dora (Peterson) Webb. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1981 from Purdue University, a Master of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University in 1986 and his Juris Doctor Degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1990.
Mark had a distinguished career as an attorney and prosecutor, earning the 5-year, 10-year, 15-year and the 20-year Prosecution Service Awards. He started his legal career as a law clerk/legal aid in Central Michigan and later was a clerk for the Honorable G. Michael Hocking in Eaton County. Mark got his first prosecuting attorney position in January of 1992 in Calhoun County, where he tried over 80 felony cases throughout the Circuit, District, Juvenile and Probate Courts. At the conclusion of his time in Calhoun County, Mark opened his own practice in
Marshall, MI and engaged as a solo practitioner focusing mainly on criminal defense. He ran his office from 2001-2009.
In January of 2009, Mark took a position as the Chief Assistant Prosecutor in Branch County, a position in which he held for 4 years. He then briefly re-opened his own practice again in Marshall before taking a job as the Assistant Attorney General for the Government of the Virgin Islands, DOJ. Mark later was an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Clare County. During his time there he administered two grants; the first was the Opiod/Drug Grant and major assault crimes under the Violent Crimes Grant. At the conclusion of those grants, Mark worked as a Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Isabella County for 3-years handling everything from speeding tickets to major assaultive and drug crimes. Mark's final position started in June of 2025, as the Chief Assistant Prosecutor for Mason County.
Throughout his career his work appeared in many publications, and he spoke at a host of different conferences. He also was an instructor at Kellogg Community College for a brief time and was an Adjunct Professor for Thomas M. Cooley Law School from 1993-2002.
Mark had a great love for his Alma Mater Purdue, Dodgers baseball and the Caribbbean. He loved to discover new book stores, spending time with his toes in the sand, lazy weekend mornings reading, espically one of his favorite authors, Jim Harrison whom he met once, at a bar, in Grand Marais.
Mark is survived by his mother Dora (Peterson) Webb-Anderson; his sister Susie (Webb) Richards and brother-in-law Damon; brother Dan Webb, his two sons, Andrew Webb and Joshua Webb; their mother Colleen (Jacobs) Webb; and his Sweetheart, Kimberly Keeley; and many nieces and nephews
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Webb.
