Mark Alan Welborn, 64, of Randleman, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Hospice House of Randolph County, surrounded by his family.
Mark was born on September 23, 1960, in High Point, NC, to Max H. Welborn and the late Elizabeth Dixon Welborn. After completing his schooling, Mark spent the majority of his career as a truck driver for Davis Feed Supply, now known as Davis Water. Outside of work, he was known as a self-taught mechanic, spending much of his free time tinkering with anything that had a motor. He found joy in working outdoors, taking pride in maintaining his garden, mowing his yard, and caring for the lawn. Neighbors often saw him mowing the roadside throughout the community and surrounding areas, a habit that led his father to jokingly remark, "You're doing the state's job." Mark's John Deere lawn mower was one of his favorite things, and he could often be found riding it or maintaining it.
A natural creator, Mark enjoyed making memorable and humorous yard art that kept his neighbors laughing. He was a proud member of the Cedar Square community, and as a birthright member of Cedar Square Friends Meeting, he had a deep love for his home and his neighbors. Known for his country spirit, Mark believed in having "a little grease or dirt on your hands."
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth D. Welborn.
He is survived by his daughter, Leisha Griffith (Brock); grandchildren, Willow and Wiley Griffith; father, Max H. Welborn; brothers, Max H. Welborn Jr. (Darlene), Joe M. Welborn (Susan); sisters, Janice Welborn Davis, Karen Walton (Ricky); nephews, Michael Trexler, Greg Trexler, Jared Walton, Jacob Welborn, and Justin Welborn; aunts, Nancy Walker (Dwight), Lois Welborn, Judy Jones, Gloria Dixon; and many cousins who were dear to him.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Cedar Square Friends Meeting Cemetery, with Michael Fulp officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Randolph County Hospice House, in gratitude for their compassionate care.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at the Hospice House " Heaven's waiting room", who they consider "angels," for the care they provided to Mark and the entire family during this difficult time.
