Mark Howard Whetsel, 61, passed away, Monday, October 13, 2025 at his home. He was born June 20, 1964 a son of the late Charles Whetsel, Sr and Betty Chearney of Owensdale.
Mark was a graduate of Southmoreland High School Class of 1982 where he was an accomplished member of the wrestling team. A proud veteran, he served in the PA Army National Guard. He had a passion for restoring classic cars stemming from his years as a body man, body shop manager and even a body shop Vo-Tech teacher. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, Friday night movies with his daughter, Daddy-Daughter dinners and riding his lawn mower with his buddy, LJ. Mark was full of stories and jokes which he loved to share with his family and friends. His joy in life was supporting his daughter, Katrina, as a sound man, roadie and number one fan, in her passion as a musician and singer.
He is survived by his wife Stacy Whetsel; his daughter, Katrina Lynn Whetsel; his mother, Betty Chearney; his siblings, Debra Neighbors (Donald), Charles Whetsel, Jr. (Cindy), Kimberly Burke (Rick), Raymond Oldland (Karen), Matthew Baker (Angela) and Traci Roscoe (Robert) and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Donald J. Chearney.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale where his funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 am with Pastor Bill O’Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery where military honors will be conducted at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family are kindly accepted.
