Mark Wilson Obituary

Mark Stephen Wilson, 72, of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield on Friday, January 30, 2026. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, on June 24, 1953, he was the beloved son of Harold Edward and Estelle Vivian (Jensen) Wilson. He was raised in Windsor, where he graduated from Windsor High School.

Mark was a man whose warmth and easy conversation could turn strangers into lifelong friends. He had a gift for connecting with people wherever he went, always ready with a story, a laugh, or a listening ear. His deep faith as a born-again Christian guided his life. Mark found strength, purpose, and joy in his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Family was at the center of everything he did, and he took great pride in the life he built surrounded by those he loved.

Mark spent many years working as a long-haul truck driver for Red Star and other companies. In his later years, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming an accomplished golfer, like his father. Mark was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan who shared a playful rivalry with his wife, Amanda, a loyal New York Giants fan. He was a proud member of the Springfield Elks Club and an avid musician. He shared his talent as a worship leader and through his performances of classic Rat Pack favorites, bringing joy to many.

Mark was a proud American who held deep respect for those who served our country. He could often be seen driving his truck around town with the American flag proudly waving behind it-a simple but meaningful reflection of the love he had for his country.

More than anything, Mark cherished time spent with family, friends, and his faith community. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Amanda (Herd) Wilson; his children, Hunter, Monique (Trey), Jeremy (Christina), Ryan, and Brienna (Ben); his brothers, Keith (Marjorie) and Craig (Stephanie); twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; many cousins; and countless close friends who were like family to him. Mark's legacy of kindness, humor, faith, and connection will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.

The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff at Baystate Medical Center for their compassion, dignity, and exceptional care of Mark.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Mark's memory to Disabled American Veterans, an organization close to his heart.

Calling hours will be held Friday, February 20th, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Forastiere Funeral Home in East Longmeadow, MA, with a service from 6:00–7:00 p.m. A celebration of Mark's life will be held at the Springfield Elks Lodge #61 on Saturday, February 21st, from 1:00–4:00 p.m.
