James Burns Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Jan. 29, 2026.
James H. Burns II, 73, lifelong resident of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born in Hartford, son of the late James Anthony and Yvonne (Anctil) Burns, and graduated from Windsor High School. A hardworking and dedicated man, James devoted over 30 years to Blue Line Distributors, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, St. Gabriel Church in Windsor.

James spent his life rooted in Windsor, growing up on his family farm, a place that came to symbolize perseverance, family, and tradition. Later in life, he built a home there with his wife, SueAnn, continuing the legacy of the land he cherished so deeply. On Sunday afternoons, he could often be found at the farm tinkering with his John Deere tractor. It was there that he earned one of his proudest and most cherished titles, "Papa on the Farm."

In his free time, he enjoyed hunkering down to watch NASCAR, cheering on the New York Giants, traveling, and looking forward to his annual trips with friends and loved ones.

In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his beloved wife, SueAnn Burns; and his sister, Joan Johnson.

James leaves to celebrate his life, his three sons, Jay Burns and his wife Danielle of Manchester, Gary Burns and his wife Amy of Southington, and Eric Burns and his wife Julie of Somers; his six adoring grandchildren, Riley, Avery, Sage, Grady, Lila, and Hudson; his sister, Lorraine Shea and her husband Thomas of Wolcott; his fiancee, Theresa Shary of Windsor, along with her children, Lisa and Bryan Shary, and their children, Eleanor, Amelia, Joseph, and Haileigh; along with many nieces and nephews, who lovingly knew him as "Uncle Butch," and dear friends.

His family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, 4-7 p.m., at the Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 11 a.m., directly at St. Damien of Molokai Parish, St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor.

Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Enfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to St. Damien of Molokai Parish, St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor, CT 06095.
