Marla Bryant Obituary

Marla Meacham Bryant

1950 - 2022

- It is with heavy hearts, that we share the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and matriarch Marla Meacham Bryant. Marla, age 72 of Salt Lake City, Utah, suddenly passed on September 28, 2022 from organ failure after heroic efforts by teams of physicians and nurses to save her. She was born on January 8, 1950. Her parents were Wendell Elroy and Gwendolyn Davies Meacham.

Marla leaves her husband of 33 years, Craig Bryant of San Diego, California, two beautiful daughters, Ashley (Ryan) Moehle and Christine Sybesma, a wonderful son, Joshua Bryant, and five cherished grandsons, Nathan, James, Andrew, Matthew, and Samuel "Sammy" Moehle, all of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is also survived by two older brothers; Bryan (Ursula) Meacham and their children, Andre (Amber) Meacham and Evionne (Travis) Silver and their children Duncan and Sydney Silver and Layne (Ruthie) Meacham and children along with many dear friends.

Marla graduated from the University of Utah School of Nursing and had a wonderfully diverse career as an RN (BSN). She was the first chief flight nurse of the Air Med Transport team at the University of Utah Medical Center. As a trauma nurse she often had to perform complex medical procedures while preparing patients for flight. In her career, she literally saved many lives. Her strong personality and nearly photographic memory helped her succeed in every aspect of her life.

Marla was a true friend. If you were family or friend, she would do anything for you. She was wise, truthful, and forthright and would be straight up honest, whether you wanted to hear it or not.

Marla had a positive impact on all who knew her and many will remember her kindness, fairness, and generosity. She made people laugh with her stories and her dry sense of humor.

She was a beloved and devoted mother to her children. She made it a priority to always be there when she was needed and was their best supporter and protector. She was blessed with five grandsons who absolutely adored her and were showered with her unconditional love. Her greatest joy was her family.

A celebration of her life will take place at the Aspen Hills Chapel at 9855 South 2300 East in Sandy, Utah on Thursday October 6, 2022. The viewing will start at 11:00 am and Funeral services start at 12:00 noon.

The services will be broadcast over Zoom and can be viewed remotely.

I can't imagine Craig without Marla by his side. She was a wonderful friend to all. I hope that memories will help you to smile through the days and years ahead.
She will be sorely missed.
