Marla Beth Scott was born June 9, 1964 in Winters Texas. She passed suddenly in the early morning hours of August 1, 2024 at the age of 60. Marla left us too soon and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marla grew up in Snyder, Texas, and graduated from Ira High School. She remained close to family in Snyder for several years bartending. She later moved to Odessa with her husband Mark Scott. Her pride and joy was establishing and operating The Boutique - an upscale and funky clothing store in Midland (2000 to 2012). Marla was known for her unique sense of style, her flamboyant hairstyles and clothing, her great sense of humor, and her refreshing optimistic outlook on life. She loved dogs, Netflix, pedicures, purple hair, family, Facebook, sunbathing, and Mexican food. Mark and Marla were M&M always - he was the love of her life and her devoted caregiver in her final years. They shared a beautiful marriage for 30 years, supporting each other always through ups and downs, lean and flush years, and sickness and health.
Marla is survived by her loving husband Mark Scott, and their beloved dog SamSam, her sister-in-law Lori Scott (Ronnie Rains), her brother-in-law Matt Scott, her nieces Allie Scott and Brooke Phillips, her great niece/nephew Meagan Burt and Braydon Phillips (and family Amber Allred/Kiera Thomason), her great-great nephew Jude Burt and her aunt Linda Scott. She is also survived by a host of cherished friends and caregivers: Susan Abshier and Mike Moore, Keith and Cherryna Little, Jessica Myers, Paula Slayton Wier, Greta Vaughan, Debbie Lewis, Liza Vejil, Michelle Melindez, and Juan Bautista.
She was predeceased by her mother and best friend Patsy (Pat) Phillips, her father Aubrey Dixon Phillips, her siblings RD Phillips and Pam Caswell, and her niece and nephew Brittany Escobedo and Brandon Lee Altman.
Marla and family were deeply grateful for the exceptional medical care she received from friend and NP Kelly Burrows with Enrich Family Practice, Accent Care, Dr. Apurva Modi, Dr. Joseph Abijay, and Dr. Shailesh Jain.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Marla's name to The Humane Society of Odessa, Texas.
