Marlene Orvetta (Wehrly) Atchley, 93, of Leo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025. She was born on November 8, 1931, in Fort Wayne, to the late Orval and Pearl (Fry) Wehrly.

Marlene retired after 13 years of dedicated service as a bus driver for Antwerp Local School. She was a member 

of Harlan Church of Christ. She had a love for gardening, sewing, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Marlene and her husband traveled around the world together.


On May 26, 1950, she married the love of her life, Joseph Atchley, and together they built a beautiful life over 61 years. They were blessed with four children: the late Jolene (James) Beerbower of Woodburn, Larry (Deb) Atchley of Cecil, OH, David (Paula) Atchley of Woodburn, and Julie Mason of Woodburn.

Marlene was a proud grandmother to 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.


Viewing is Thursday, April 17th, 12:30 pm to 2 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River Street, Antwerp, Ohio.


Marlene's funeral service is Thursday, April 17th at 2 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp.


She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Harlan Memorial Cemetery.


Memorials are to Harlan Christian School, 17108 IN-37, Harlan, IN 46743.
