Marlene Silverhorn Catterson, age 67, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 26, 1958, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Max Silverhorn, Sr., and Vernita Joyce (Auchiah) Daingkau.
Marlene was a proud member of the Kiowa Tribe. She was the granddaughter of Haungooah and Hattie Taugoon, and of Thomas Auchiah and Lizzie Catt. She was a fifth-generation descendant of Chief Santana White Bear and carried her heritage with pride and strength.
Marlene cherished time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and Tsa'goons. She was known for always preparing hearty meals for her loved ones and for opening her home and heart to family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, staying connected with long-distance family, and spending time both indoors and outdoors.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 35 years, Gerald "Jerry" Catterson. Six daughters: Summer (Chad) Gardner and Sherae Alexander of Crawfordsville, Indiana; Alvina LaForge of Lafayette, Indiana; Alicia (Waylon) Hill of Linden, Indiana; Tracy (Tom) Munden of Hayden, Colorado; and Crystal (Eric) Ahdunko of Carnegie, Oklahoma.
Marlene leaves behind fifteen grandchildren: Victoria(Sergio), Angeleigh, SherryLou, Dione, Anthony, Silas, A'lisha, Aiden, Cole, Valour, Brooke, Dakota, Joey, Jewel, and Eric Jr.; and six great-grandchildren: Harleyquinn, Arabella, Ellianna, Sergio Jr., Leo, and Ava.
She is also survived by her siblings: Thomas "Tweet" (Hazel) Silverhorn, Charles Silverhorn, Maxine (Ardie) Polite, and Velma Ruth Eisenberder
She was preceded in death by her parents, Max Silverhorn, Sr., and Vernita Joyce (Auchiah) Daingkau; her brothers, Max Silverhorn, Jr., James "BeBoy" Silverhorn, Marcus Silverhorn, and Allen Silverhorn; and her sisters, Elizabeth "Ster" Codopony and Carla Silverhorn.
Marlene's legacy of love will live on in all who knew and loved her.
