Marlene Doolittle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by West Haven Funeral Home - West Haven on Jul. 19, 2022.
Marlene R. Doolittle, 71, of Clinton, passed away on July 12th, 2022, in the company of her family, at Yale New Haven Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer for over twenty years. Marlene was born on October 9th, 1950, in West Haven, a daughter of the late Charles and Aldina (Robinson) Ritter. She is survived by her three beloved children Alea, Andriel and Evan Doolittle; her former husband Albert Doolittle; and her niece Karen Bienz. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Kenneth C. Ritter, and cousin James W. Robinson, Jr.
A graduate of West Haven High class of 1968 and Southern Connecticut State University class of 1972, Marlene embarked on a two-decade career with Yale New Haven Hospital, working closely with cancer patients as a radiation oncology dosimetrist. Marlene's true passion was that of working with children and, after her first battle with cancer, she transitioned to work as a teacher's aide at The Joel School in Clinton. She subsequently enjoyed her position as an aide and librarian for pre-k and kindergarten students at The Friendship School in Waterford.
A celebration of Marlene's life will be held on Saturday, September 17th, 2022, at 2:00pm, in the Fellowship Hall of The First Church of Christ Congregational of Clinton.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Marlene's memory to the Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital.

Thank you Glady for remembering we were Schlitz Sisters. Marlene came with us for the birth of our daughter Rachel. She later became her godmother. Although years would pass without us seeing each other we were still best friends. Gif bless you my friend.

Marlene was a lovely person and a fellow compatriot and friend in our high school and some of our college years. She married and gained my surname; I married and no longer used it officially. She was a "Schlitz Sister"-very few know that! She said some things to me that have blessed me my whole life...

I´m sorry to hear of her passing. It sounds like she endured her challenges with the same quiet strength and grace she had while we were yet young. Marlene is a Wonderful person and May God comfort all her family and friends with Hope in His Promises.
