Marlene Evelyn Jenks, 78, of Veedersburg IN, passed away 3:15 PM Wednesday February 28, 2024 at her residence with her family at her side.

Marlene was born June 21, 1945 in Danville Illinois the daughter of Elton and Marjorie  (Allison) VanLeer. She married Dean Conrad September 1, 1962; he preceded her in death November 26, 1977. She then married Edward Duane “Bud” Jenks May 26, 2012; he preceded her in death February 2, 2022. She is also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Janet Dolbee; and a grandson, Bradin Bacon.

Surviving family include two daughters, Teresa Conrad (Mick Mahoney) Terre Haute; Vicki (Pete) King, Veedersburg;  a son, James (Sheri) Conrad, Veedersburg; a brother, Maurice (Betty) VanLeer, Oakwood IL; a sister, Luella (JT) Ephlin, Covington; four grandchildren Brian (Jenifer) Bacon, Tiffany (Tyler) Bowling, Tee (Brittany) Goodman, Tiauna Goodman (Brett Robinson); and seven great-grandchildren.

Through the years Marlene had been employed at GE and Anchor Hocking in Danville, and Steel-Grip in Covington prior to her retirement.  She will be remembered as a person who was willing to help anyone, always offering to give them anything she could in order to help. More than anything she loved and enjoyed her family; especially her grandchildren.

Visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday March 2, 2024 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Funeral will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday March 2, 2024 at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Sims officiating; burial will follow at Thomas Cemetery near Newport, IN.
