Marlene Grace Light

Marlene Grace (Fuhrman) Light, 85, passed away Sept. 14, 2023, in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garry Arden Light, January 13, 1999.
Born February 14, 1938, in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Arba B. and Mabel I. (Krumrine) Fuhrman. Marlene graduated from Littlestown High School. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and regularly attended the Paradise Congregation in Hanover, PA
In her younger years, she worked in her grandfather's canning factory in Westminster, MD. She will always be remembered as a very hard worker on the family farm, bailing hay and acquiring the name chop "suey" given to her by her father, for her love of playing in the animal feed. She kept the nickname "Sue" for the rest of her life. She was also an enthusiastic gardener and took pleasure in canning her own home-grown vegetables. She enjoyed planting and taking care of her flowers and always looked forward to traveling. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and the grandchildren, who will fondly remember her as the best Nana and the "grandest" mother to many.
Surviving are 3 children, Sherri A. Burns, of York Springs, Cindy S. Tavares, (John) and Shawn A. Light, (Becky) all of Littlestown and 7 grandchildren, Leah L. Ryder (Clinton), Dustin L. Kortisses (Tara), Lacey J. Crumbling (Michael), Brittney I. Koontz (Jonathan), Connor A. Tavares (Meghan), Aiden H. Tavares and Griffin A. Tavares. In addition, she was immensely loved by 9 great-grandchildren, Jordyn Calnan (Riley), Lucian Creamer, Olivia Creamer, Angelia Keefer, Jullein Ozminski, Jaxon Koontz, Emma Ozminski, Alana Crumbling, Isabelle Koontz and 1 great-great granddaughter, Levi Calnan, and sister-in-law, Ruth Fuhrman of Hanover, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Kenneth and Clyde Fuhrman and a son-in-law, Rory "Burny" Burns.
A Celebration of Marlene's life will be held on September 23rd, 2023, at 1:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5 Paradise Court, Hanover, PA 17331. The family will receive visitors beginning at 12:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paradise Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5 Paradise Court, Hanover, PA 17331.
