Marlene Renee Mallet, loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to all, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the age of sixty-four. She was born in Lake Charles on November 12, 1959.
The daughter of the late Curtis and Sylvia Anding Mallet, she was a twin to Darlene Mallet and friend, Cassandra Ramirez, and sister to Phil Mallet (Melissa); companion to Annette Simon; aunt to Kelli Mallet Gray (Triston) and Dustin Mallet (Katie); great aunt to Gage, Grant, Graci, Teche, and Evelyn; great-great aunt to Presley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, along with grandparents, Walter and Mildred McCown Anding, and Filbert and Irene Mallet, great-nephew, Garrin Gray.
Marlene was a graduate of Iowa High School. She worked side by side with her mom, Sylvia at Friendly Home Center (now known as Stine Lumber Company) for years. She then went to work in management and sales at Lowe's before retiring in 2019 after 27 years.
She was a huge fan of the New Orlean Saints, and LSU. Her many interests included animal rescue and was the owner of Who's a Good Dog Doggy Daycare. A 15-year cancer survivor, Marlene was an avid volunteer and supporter of Relay for Life. Her generous, caring, loving spirit will be missed by all that were privileged to call her friend. Met Marlene for the first time in May 2024, when we became neighbors. While porch sitting and me listening to Marlene doing most of the talking, she concluded we were indeed 3rd cousins. I couldn't help but fall in love with Marlene's infectious smile, laugh, stories, love of animals, people and family and zest for life. Marlene truly has the biggest heart of anyone I have ever known. If the electricity goes out, I'll be alright thanks to Marlene ensuring that I have plenty of lanterns, batteries, head lamps and a weather radio. I'll always treasure the solar cat chimes hanging on my porch and the metal chairs she and Annette gave me. One day I'll have to repaint them Marlene's favorite color, yellow . I sure do love and miss you Cuz. I am so heartbroken...
