Marlene Jacqueline Matrau, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in Vernon on Friday, August 11, 2023. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and services will be announced.
Born in Owosso on April 15, 1948, Marlene was the embodiment of love, friendliness, and creativity throughout her 75 years of life.
Marlene was the cherished daughter of the late Cameron and Charlotte "June" Miller. She was raised in Ovid, where she graduated from Ovid High School. Marlene was the glue that held her family together, dedicating her life to raising her three sons and maintaining a warm and welcoming home.
Marlene leaves behind her faithful husband, Frank R. Matrau, her loving sons, Deric (Christina) Matrau and Jonathon Matrau. She was a doting grandmother to her four grandsons and was blessed to meet her great-grandson and great-granddaughter. Her family was her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She was predeceased by her parents, Cameron and Charlotte, her sister Marchon Kilgore, her brothers, Tim Miller and Jerry Miller, and her beloved son, Frank R. Matrau, Jr.
Known for her creativity, Marlene had a passion for crafting. She could turn ordinary objects into extraordinary pieces of art, her creations often becoming cherished keepsakes for family and friends. Her love for crafting was only surpassed by her love for people, especially children. For many years, Marlene brought joy and laughter to countless children and onlookers at events and parades. She was a member of the Shiawassee Alley Clown Club, where she performed as a clown, spreading happiness wherever she went.
Marlene was a beacon of love and friendliness in her community. Her home was always open, her kitchen always filled with the aroma of home-cooked meals, and her laughter was infectious. She had a knack for making everyone feel comfortable and loved. She was a friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marlene Jacqueline Matrau lived a fulfilling life as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for her loving nature, her friendly demeanor, and her creative spirit. While her passing leaves a void that can never be filled, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Marlene, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Rest in peace, dear Marlene, knowing that your love and legacy will continue to shine in the lives of those you cherished.
