Marlene Rogers Neal, 87, of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A proud graduate of Meridian High School, Marlene went on to earn her nursing degree from Meridian Community College in 1978. She spent many fulfilling years caring for others, working the night shift at Riley Hospital and East Mississippi State Hospital, where she was known for her compassion and dedication.
Marlene was affectionately called "Granny" by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she treasured her role as a matriarch in her family. Her home was always filled with love and laughter.
As a devout member of Central Baptist Church, Marlene was an active participant in her church community. She sang in the choir and attended Sunday School, always eager to share her faith and connect with others.
Marlene's legacy is one of love, kindness, and service. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ms. Marlene is survived by her children, Kathy Lynn Blackmon, Jason Rogers (Jennifer) and Mavis McElroy; grandchildren: Rod Ward (Kim), Tesha Brewster, Meredith Snowden (Matt), Scott Ward, Carlton Brady (Samona), Amanda Cortez (Zac), and Britney Pippin (Andy); Great-grandchildren: Austin McElroy, Nicholas Robison, Abbi Blakely (Kam), Seth Ward, Josh Ward, Kennedy Keller, Payton Brady, Molly Katherine Snowden, James Cortez, Wes Snowden, Ashtyn Brewster, Kameron Keller, Luke Ward, Jordan Brady, Leah Ward, Liam Cortez, Aidan Brady, Axel Pippin, Brendan Brady, Elias Cortez, Nicolas Cortez, and Piper Pippin; great-great grandchildren: Ashton, Bentley, and Bailey Blakely; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends.
Mrs. Neal is preceded in death by her parents, Rex and Maggie Lee Marcum, her brother, Henry J. Cockrell; her husband Erbert Rogers; her son, Clarence William "Bill" McElroy, Jr; her granddaughters, Megan Diane McElroy and Emily Blackmon Edmonds.
Pallbearers will be Andy Pippin, Billy Sollie, Byron Tiller, Rawson Tiller, Bobby Truelove, and Scott Ward. Honorary Pallbearers will be Granny's beloved grandsons, great-grandsons, and great-great grandsons.
Ms. Neal's Family suggests memorials be made as donations to Central Baptist Church (Meridian, MS) or to the American Diabetes Association in lieu of flowers.
Ms. Neal's Family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Donna Raley, Marynell Morgan, Debra Adams, and Amy Crain, along with the staff of Harper's Hospice Care, Inc. for their continued love and support throughout Ms. Neal's illness.
Online condolences may be expressed at robertbarhamffh.com.
The Rogers-Neal Family will receive guests from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to funeral rites in the chapel.
