North English- Marlene Elizabeth Pope was born August 9, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Glenn Myron and Mary Emma (Groff) Fisher. She graduated from Wellman High School. On September 11, 1965, Marlene was united in marriage to Charles Leroy Pope at the Franklin Methodist Church in Wellman. She was a member of the Merry Mixers Club. She enjoyed collecting salt & pepper shakers, do to dot books, embroidery and watching tv. Marlene died on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at her home near North English, at the age of 90 years.
She is survived by her son Lynn Pope and granddaughter Lauren Pope both of North English. She was preceded by her parents; husband Charlie; daughter-in-law Amney Pope; and a brother Carroll Fisher.
A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be held at a later date in the Wellman Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the North English Community Center or Bethany Christian Services. Messages and tributes maybe left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
