North English-Kay Ann Teggatz was born July 22, 1939, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Kathyrine (Eichhorn) Fetzer. She grew up in Williamsburg, graduated from Williamsburg High School, attended the Paris Cosmetology Academy in Cedar Rapids and went to work for Peg's Beauty Salon following completion. Kay was united in marriage to Ralph Teggatz on February 10, 1962 in Cedar Rapids, they later divorced. Kay operated her own beauty salon in her home from 1964-1973. Throughout her life, she lived in Cedar Rapids, Belle Plaine, Williamsburg, and North English. Kay enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, writing letters, watching Hallmark movies and westerns and she loved animals. Kay died Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 86 years.
She is survived by her children Troy Teggatz of Parnell and Dawn Teggatz of Williamsburg; granddaughter Kaya Teggatz of Cedar Falls; and sister Fay (Bill) Elson of Hiawatha. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Quinn Teggatz, and brothers Glenn “Bob” Fetzer and Franklyn Fetzer.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Williamsburg. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00-3:00 pm at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A general memorial fund has been established.
