Funeral Services for Marlene Van Drie, age 91, of Sheldon who passed away on Saturday June 21, 2025, at the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care. Services will be 11 A.M. Monday June 30, 2025, at the Parkview Assembly in Sheldon. Pastor Ken Snyder will officiate.

 with burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. 

Visitation with family present will be from 9:30 until 10:45 Monday at the church.

Marlene Ann Van Drie the daughter of Carl and Mabel (Henze) Kampmeyer was born August 8, 1933 in Sheldon, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm in the Sheldon area receiving her education in Sheldon graduating from Sheldon High School. She was united in marriage to Bernard “Bernie” Van Drie on November 16, 1956 in the First Presbyterian Church in Ashton, Iowa. Together, they lived on the family farm in rural Melvin, Iowa and in 1980 they moved to Sheldon. In 1983 they opened Van Drie Automotive with Bernie, Marlene and son Derwin all operating the car dealership together. Bernie preceded her in death on November 4, 1998 in Sheldon, Iowa. Marlene continued to make her home in Sheldon and for the last few years she was a resident of the Sanford Senior Care. She passed away at Senior Care on Saturday June 21, 2025 reaching the age of 91 years 10 months and 13 days.

She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ashton where she was very active. She played the organ for many years was involved in Bible studies ,and ladies activities of the church including Ladies Aid. Marlene loved her family very much. Her grandchildren were a special part of her life attending many of their events when she could. She enjoyed having coffee with her many friends and her love of cats having always having a special cat at the farm and later at her home in Sheldon. At her passing she held a special stuffed cat and the blanket she was under was of pictures of cats.

Left to cherish Marlene’s memories are her son Derwin and his wife Diane Van Drie of Sheldon, Iowa; four grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; Cody (Kim) Van Drie and their children Isla and Vera and one on the way of Sheldon, Iowa; Kyle (Jessica) and their children Daniel and Jenessa of Sioux Center, Iowa; Kelsey Van Drie of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Katie Van Drie of Ames, Iowa, brother in law Harold Van Drie, sister in law Eva Schutte, all of her nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bernie, her parents Carl and Mabel, brother in law Dan Schutte, and sister in law Elsie Van Drie.
